The SMI Aussie Asado Kooka Kage™ by Slot Me In™ is designed for simplicity of use for a lifetime of cooking over “FLAME ‘N’ COALS™”. Simply put “Asado” translates loosely from the Spanish description of a technique for cooking produce over a fire, common in many South American countries such as Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Colombia, Peru, Brazil, Ecuador, Uruguay, Paraguay & Venezuela to name a few and right at home here too in Australia.
The SMI Aussie Asado Kooka Kage™ or “KOOKA KAGE™” is our twist on a cooking implement that can be used to house produce and suspended it over a fire for cooking. Both models (Ellipse & Hex) measure overall 460mm long x 270mm high x 270mm wide and weigh 1.230kg (Ellipse model) and 1.245kg (Hex model) respectively. Internal dimensions for produce are 360mm L x 160mm H x 160mm W for both models with the Hex model having a slightly bigger internal volume due to its design shape.
To use the KOOKA KAGE™ simply undo the opening end that comes supplied with the attached stainless steel D shackle and securing chain. This unique D shackle is 316 marine grade stainless steel and has an encapsulated pin, one that won’t fall out and is also attached by chain links to one of the rings on the KOOKA KAGE™ at the opening end so there’s nothing to fall off or loose. Next open the two halves out at 180 degrees, the opposite end to the opening D shackle end is permanently located by a full circular enclosed stainless steel ring hinge so you will never lose or misplace either half section that makes up the KOOKA KAGE™. Next load your intended produce into one half of the open baskets of the KOOKA KAGE™ making sure that it is large enough to remain housed inside once closed and secure it with the included D shackle. Common types of produce are a whole large chicken, a couple of smaller chickens, small turkey, duck, legs of lamb, rolled shoulders of pork, large whole fish and fruit & vegetables that won’t pass between the bar spacings when enclosed. Once loaded and locked the KOOKA KAGE™ is then suspended over your fire pit, ground fire or wood fired BBQ from one of the 6 hanging positions (hanging circles) on the KOOKA KAGE™ via a chain and hooks, available separately from Slot Me In™ if required or included in our SMI AUSSIE ASADO KOOKA KAGE KOMBO KIT™. Being made from hygienic food grade 304 stainless steel your KOOKA KAGE™ by Slot Me In™ is easy to clean and maintain for reuse over and over. It won’t rust like inferior ones made from raw steel do, it doesn’t need seasoning and to be kept oily like raw steel ones do instead clean up is a breeze in your dishwasher or sink with hot soapy water.
