In simple terms the SMI Fire Pit & Chiminea Deck ‘N’ Patio Trolley range is specifically designed for those wishing to use their fire pit or chiminea on a level hard and or combustible surface such as paving, concrete, decking or similar with the option of full and easy mobility of the fire pit or chiminea when required instead of being fixed to one position. The trolley enables effortless movement of even the heaviest fire pits or chimineas to enjoy in various positions on your paving or deck as you so desire.

Each trolley is made from 3mm thick Australian BlueScope CORTEN™ steel, a steel that weathers to a warm rustic patina and stabilizes without deteriorating or rusting away. Each square, rectangle and triangular trolley is a single piece of steel with folded downward sides (75mm deep) concealing the wheels giving it a floating appearance with approximately a 25mm clearance above the supporting surface. Round trolleys are fabricated with a rolled ring underneath and a separate flat top circular disc overlapping the rolled “ring skirt” by approximately 25mm with both pieces being conceal welded in the same 3mm thick BlueScope CORTEN steel used as with all of our other shaped trolleys and with the wheels concealed also as per all of our other trolleys.

Each wheel used is rated at 100kg load bearing (full 360-degree swivel with a ball bearing race) and they all have a non-scratching polyurethane solid tyre surfaces so as to not damage the most precious of surfaces. The wheels are 100% Australian made using 100% Australian materials just like the steel of the trolley and welded in position on the underside of the trolley. The 25mm clearance under each trolley allows sufficient air flow so as not to transmit any excessive heat to the supporting surface below while also giving the trolley a soft ambient floating appearance concealing the wheels from view.

Trolleys up to and including 1000mm x 1000mm square or 1000mm diameter round have 4 wheels (400kg rated) and larger sizes have a fifth central wheel (1200mm & 1350mm square or round models use 5 wheels and are 500kg rated). Rectangular trolleys listed come standard with 4 wheels as standard and can be optioned up to include a fifth wheel if required, as can any of our square or round trolleys which come standard with 4 wheels also. The unique triangular trolley specifically developed for the Equilateral Fire Pit range uses 3 wheels and is 300kg rated, it to can be optioned up to include a fourth wheel if required.

For use on timber decks and other combustible surfaces we highly recommend the additional use of our SMI aluminium water fillable under trays SMI UNDERTRAYS™  in conjunction with the trolley if your fire pit or chiminea has venting that sheds or drops ash and embers below it. The undertray is water fillable and will catch and extinguish falling ash and embers and should be maintained filled with water whilst using your fire pit or chiminea on any combustible surface.

When considering your trolley allow the weight of the unladen trolley (all listed below) to be subtracted from the overall load rating and that will give you the maximum weight it can additionally support. If you require additional wheels, they can be added in the drop-down selection process when ordering as we fabricate each order to your specific selection. Generally speaking, 5 wheels with a rating of 500kg will more than support any fire pit or chiminea fully loaded with cookware, produce and firewood all combined in our range. Important to note if using your trolley, undertray and fire pit/chiminea on a deck that you know your load rating per square meter of your deck in supporting it above also.
