SMI CrocJaws™ by Slot Me In™ are an original and unique style of fire tong made both for practical use whilst also enjoying a bit of fun in the process. Proudly 100% Aussie made using the finest Australian steel (BlueScope Xlerplate™) they are made tough and rugged for use indoors or outdoors with open fireplaces, slow combustion heaters, campfires, wood fired bbqs, chimineas, potbelly stoves, fire pits or wherever safe maneuvering of burning firewood is required. Your SMI CrocJaws™ will be the handy go to tool whenever you’re enjoying a fire either for its warmth and ambience or for cooking over.

The menacing look and some would say aggressive styling resembles Australia’s apex predator the salt water crocodile or “salty” as they are often called after which we have named them. The sharp grip teeth will securely and safely grab your burning firewood when required for repositioning in your fire just like the teeth of a “salty” securely grips its prey.

Not only do they function as a dual handled set of extending fire tongs we’ve inbuilt some handy lifting features also. When required the slotted notches at each “jaw” extremity conveniently allows billy’s and camp ovens to be securely added to or removed from your campfire by engaging the bail arm into either of the slots for a vertical lift. The slightly curved leading “teeth” also overlap to securely grab twin bail arm style camp ovens like our SMI Oz Iron Kookware™ Aussie Camp Oven too as well as the larger style spring handled bail arm camp ovens on the market. They can also be used to poke and prod your firewood in much the same fashion as a fire poker and if need be even grab and flip a steak on the bbq.

With a bit of added “old school” manufacturing (by hand), namely traditional blacksmithing we have incorporated 4 solid steel pivoting rivets hand peened on our anvil at our factory resulting in a scissor-like extending articulated action which both opens and closes the jaws and locks down on your firewood or holds securely the billy or camp oven bail arm when required. Large hand holes allow heat resistant gloves to be worn when using them also if and when required. The 4 flat steel sections joined by the 4 pivoting solid rivets are precision laser cut and branded with our logo identifying our original and unique design fire tongs.

SMI CrocJaws™ are made for a lifetime of use around your fire whether out camping or simply at home, they weigh just 1.12kg and measure when closed 615mm long x 110mm wide x 10mm high. Yes the “teeth” are sharp for their intended purpose so we do recommend they be stored in the closed position and supervised when used with and around children just like you should your fire as well.
