The OZSPIT & BBQ™ “XP” & “SS” 9kg Rated Spit Drive Motors come in two finishes one is a powder coated satin black finish over the prepared metal and primed exterior body “XP” model and the other is a stainless steel 304 grade brushed finish on the exterior body of the motor “SS” model. Both motors are 9kg rated and powered using 2 x D-Cell 1.5 volt rated batteries (disposable or rechargeable type and not included). The spit drive motors are designed to be used with the OZSPIT & BBQ™ motor carrier brackets exclusively. All 4 lengths of OZSPIT & BBQ™ spit bars (600mm, 800mm, 1000mm and 1200mm) can be used with the weight of the spit bar being allowed for in the load rating of your cook up. Care should be taken not to use the motors in wet conditions and when in transit or storage simply invert one of the batteries to the opposite of its connection polarity so if the motor switch is bumped accidently, it will not start and drain the battery. You can of course remove the batteries as well when not in use. Battery life is dependent on a lot of factors such as produce weight and even distribution to name some. Quality batteries will generally provide in excess 60 hours of usage life. A handy tip is to carry a spare pair as you can often lose track of the work the batteries in the motor might have already done. Also keep in mind the size of the fire being used to cook on and leave sufficient distance from the motor to the fire via correct positioning of the vertical support post/ground spike relative to the fire and the correct length spit bar as well for best results all round and protect the motor from excessive heat. If using the 1200mm long spit bar a second v support post/ground spike along with our handy OZSPIT & BBQ™ Spit Bar Helper Support Bracket must be used to supported it at near to the pointed end of the spit bar as possible (approximately 50mm in from the end of the pointed end of the spit bar as a minimum).
